Coca Cola Wall Art - Branding in Graffiti

Branding pieces it is..

Something new today as a tryout. I've tried to reproduce the Coca Cola logo, but with my own letters. Really funny to hear people say 'Coca Cola' before even reading it; It plays with how the brain works.

About to hit the 48.000 pageviews! Expect a big illustration soon!

GRAFISCH LYCEUM ROTTERDAM - BEWIJZENMAP

Mijn stageperiodes in een boekje.

First of all, sorry for my readers abroad; because this post is about a school related design, I decided to write in Dutch for this particular post. Upcoming posts will be all English again!

Opleiding Mediavormgeven Grafisch - Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam

3D Graffiti Sketch by Seck

I've been more experimental in my sketchbook lately. This update is a more three dimensional one, made with ink markers, coloring pencils and fineliners. I am focusing on dropping the outlines from the sketch soon, so just the clean fill remains. The only thing is, how am I going to erase my pencil lines? Practice, practice, practice..

Graffiti Sketch for the MPA Crew

My internship at the Music Production Academy is coming to a nice, smooth and clean end. I had the honour to make a load of new promotion material for in and around the shop. Combined with the MPA Pattern that I've made, and a couple of other little tweaks on the designs from OB, it is a statisfying view to see everything improves with every little touch that we make. A ton of nice portfolio material!

To say goodbye in my own way, there is - off course - a graffiti sketch involved. I've made a MPA sketch on A3 format, for them to hang around in the shop. It turned out more of a classic graffiti, but I liked the open P as MPA is open to their customers.

I've put a 40 x 50 photo frame around, spraypainted the background grey. I tried to get in the nice purple MPA Connect teint as an outline. To fill up this sketch I've used Promarkers, Molotow 227HS Markers, basic coloring pencils and a couple of fineliners to touch up stuff.

Thanks to MichaĆ«l, OB, Jeroen, Didier, Marijn & Banchi! Off course I also want to thank Rick, Bas & Yussuf, my fellow interns for this awesome experience.

Sunday is Blackbook D-Day #17: 'Kces'

Swapping the Letters

A new rainy sunday means a new sketch! The idea of today, I want to inverse the order of my tag letters once in a while, just to get a style refresh. I might do a 'word of the week' soon.. If you want to know what that's all about, keep an eye on the blog!

Quick Graffiti Sketch - Earth Colors

Time to post a quick update and a new sketch for today! Most of the time when I start sketching without a pencil I try to find my yellow marker. Not because I like yellow in every sketch (yeah okay, I do) but because it is the most easy overpainted colour there is, so the most change - proof. Kinda reminded me of these typical seventies colors tho.

Blackbook Graffiti - Stay Strong Paris

A tragedy turned into a sketch

Today isn't what it had to be. I want to upload happy things on sunday, with the typical 'Sunday is Blackbook D-Day' posts. Update you guys on my progress. It didn't feel good, with the tragedy that took place in Paris past friday, in the back of my head.

As someone from Europe who has never been to Paris, you would think that it did not hit me. But those haunting scenes on national television, cannot be unseen. Facebook drenched in the French Flag.. This way I want to say I'm with all people in Paris. We will get through together. Stay strong! #prayforparis

Sunday is Blackbook D-Day #16: Border Patrol II

Part II on the Border Patrol sketches!

Do you guys remember the Border Patrol graffiti from april 2015? I really want to put this stuff on the wall, but the weather isn't willing to let us paint this weekend. Time to invest more time in the sketch part then! More letter stylez to come..

I did start this sketch with the 2 buckets of latex paint I have in the shelf, a beige/brown teint and the killing red from last time in Alkmaar. This, together with blue and green results in a popping piece. Enjoy!

Graffiti - Seck and Fines in Alkmaar, the Netherlands

The Alkmaar Visit

The plan for the upcoming pieces is to search for a different place every time. I'm making a list soon, full of Halls of Fame in Holland and abroad.

This time I got tipped about a nice hof located in Alkmaar, Noord Holland. At the Victoriepark there is a big house that is legalized for painting. Together with Fines and my girl, we had a nice trip through the country. We had a lot of fun. And offcourse, we painted this chrome graffiti at the Victoriepark!

Extra pictures by Michael Volschow added! It was nice to meet you.

Futuristic Graffiti at Dordrecht

Normally I would upload a 'Sunday is blackbook D-Day' post today, but I wanted to do something different. Inspired by the iLoveSketches facebook page, which haves a certain album, for a collage type called 'from sketch to wall'. So what my girl and I've been up to today, is just that. Enjoy!

Facebook Banner Design for Music Production Academy in Rotterdam

At the Music Production Academy internship, we made up a promotion plan together with Rick, OB and Michael. As you may have already seen the MPA Comics, they are also part of the plan to get our next project(s) more in the spotlights.

Like all business projects, MPA stands or falls with a good branding. I began with creating a pattern for the background, and with the other branding equipment from OB, and the plan Rick made, we got a steady banner scheme for the next months.

This post will be updated regularly with new elements and things.

Weekly Comics for Music Production Academy

News from the internship front! This week, Michael challenges me to create something different without other members of MPA interrupting. Nah it isn't interrupting, but you know what I mean. Most of us Graphic Designers and Illustrators want one thing: that is total freedom to create the most perfect whatevers, possible.

Together with the marketing member Rick, we came up with a totally new thing in the Music Industry; At the MPA Facebook page, we introduce the weekly Comic Column! Cheesy comics about the music industry, EDM, ADE, and the most known deejays and their current carreer changes.

Every week MPA drops a new comic drawing by me. I will update the post every week on Tuesday, so be here around 6 o'clock!

Customize Tumblr Header - 'JEANGEZ' Lettering

The first time I created a Tumblr header. After a bit of google exploring together with my love, we found out what the perfect ratio for a Tumblr blog header is. Separate the white with a mask in Photoshop, and export it for web as a PNG. Easy as that.

The drawing was made with Uni Posca and Molotow markers. Just a quick sunday project!

Sunday is Blackbook D-Day #15: 3D Stuff

So this is the 15th anniversary for this series! With the start in 2012, I challenged myself to sketch or draw something every sunday.. That didn't work out, because I want to provide you guys just the best of my sketch book work. I did not really title this one, because its one that just popped into my head today. Enjoy!

Graffiti Character Collaboration - Seck & Fines

The second time we visit the Mus & Muzen Dorpsacademie in Wilnis, past saturday. And once again, an opportunity to paint something crisp! Fines already did some preparation work, so we were ready to go, instantly. I chose the sketch from a week or 2 ago, Got to show my Hands, to be the example for my part of the collaboration.

The first time to actually paint a character next to my lettering. A bit strange at first, but when the base shadow coat was put on, it was a piece of cake. Jenneke has a big box full of blue teints, from a previous commission. I think the colors in this graffiti are the most balanced ones in my collaboration history, thanks to Mus & Muzen! More to come on the graffiti blog!

Blackbook Graffiti - 3D Cubes

As the title suggests in this one; One of the first letter drawings I make, with a ruler in my basic drawing equipment, and the first drawing that is measured properly, instead of a freestyle. Together with the extensive use of pencils to create shadows, and the basic cubes, ropes and bubbles, this one is different from other pieces I've made.

To get an one of a kind style, I want to explore and try every single way. More to come!

How I Create my Graffiti Sketches - Step by Step

Autumn is approaching, so painting in the sun is fading away for this year..  I feel like doing a blackbook lettering one, like Gary MSK always does. His pieces are so clean! To show you guys the progress of this one, there is a animated gif below. Enjoy!

Graffiti Blackbook - Angry Cop

I've spend a lot of time with Jeanet lately, filling up my weekends with love. So much to do, many things on my mind. This way there's less time to get graffiti sketches and pieces done, but even I need some rest once in a while haha.

I'll start off with a note to myself: Never use Stabilo Markers for the outlines of a sketch with a paint fill in. Those 2 will be interrupting eachother, without any warning!

Sunday is Blackbook D-Day #14 - Laser Beam

Laser Beam

Quick update on the book, once again. Something to try on the wall is the background laserbeam / wave type of thing, otherwise it is just a freestyle with some effects I've used many times.. Ah I had a nice weekend, so why don't put this sketch up either? Enjoy!

Graffiti in Zuidland, the Netherlands

A quick update from today, at Zuidland.. Time to paint some quick walls together with Tober, got to keep the legend alive. He will stop painting, due a complex medical condition.

Nevertheless, we picked up the spraypaint and made a quick 'Art route' through the village. Two pieces were the result.

Fun fact is, I'm updating this post now in 2017 and the black one at the bottom of this post is still there; It has been 'sealed' with a fence placed in front. Nice :)

It's been a fun day!

Designing a Business Card for Car Journalism

I had the honor to create the Car Journalism logo a couple of months ago.. Now the website is released, and they are rising up. The banners are in full use so.. Time for some more promotion; Business Cards and Stickers are up next!

The stickers consist of a QR code, with the CJ logo beneath. Finished off with a nice glossy finish for outdoor sticker use.

The business cards are also in black and white, and with the glossy finish. The big difference is here, that I've tried to keep a clean, essential look, so only text and a couple of little social media icons are added on the back side. The front side is more of an eye catcher, due to the negative color CJ symbol.

It is fun working with these guys, and they are surely going to get somewhere soon. Don't forget to check out their website!
