GRAFFITI BLACKBOOK SKETCH - MERRY X-MAS 2014!

What a year.. So many highlights, painting walls, sketching, designing business cards, a book, and so on. I want to thank all recent visitors, friends, and family who followed my progress this year, via Facebook, Instagram or whatever. Some people even just followed me in person, madness haha. I really want to get painting down in Dordrecht with Etos CFL, but the update on that may be visible next year, I don't know how time is going to be filled up. I wish you all the best for 2015!

'When Christmas looks like this' is the title that popped up when I made this gold one. Referring back to the critical note I got from a friend a week back, I made a 'back to basic' sketch, with a fluor yellow, a banana yellow, a brownish, and an orange marker. Just those 4 fill colors, because I want to be capable of doing this on the wall, with a max of 5 spray cans. But I have to keep those folds and bars in.. So I should start in my sketchbook, shouldn't I?

Excited to announce this people.. I've never been so proud of anything, and it isn't even finished yet! Remember the blackbook template I made a couple of weeks back? Some days later on I received the new orders for the next school assignment, called 'Doe ut Lekkah Zelluf' (roughly translated to 'Do whatever you Want'). To be on point; What you were going to make was totally up to you, but you had to describe the process you were running through on a specific website.

As I made the NS train, I decided to make an a4 blackbook full of recognisable Dutch things, that you can paint on. It is still in a prepress stage but I really want to show you guys! There are only 15 pieces left, so be fast if one of you want to get their hands on this. Got to keep it special you know.

To make everything fall into place, I'll quote the first page;

'Hello There!

This book is developed for all graffiti writers, who want to practise their trains in a book. In my search I only found a couple of other 'environment blackbooks', but those contained New York subways and freight trains. Time for a change! This book contains all Dutch stuff, that's worth representing. Bombing Material!

This book consists out of 25 pages, with 6 different templates:

GRAFFITI @ DORPSACADEMIE, WILNIS - FT. FINES

The last piece in Delft with Fines was such an success, that we decided to drop a piece together again, instead of visiting Utrecht for the release of the new Overrated Magazine. Fines had found a spot in Wilnis, at the Dorps Academie. He was able to paint there a couple of times before, so they were familiar with the fact that some guys come by, time by time, to paint a wall in the backyard. 

We only had an hour to finish this one but damn; What a nice spot! We even had a roof above our heads. They have a range of +/- 200 colors there, where we could choose from. All sponsored. Really, really awesome! I've kept it simple because we had the time limit, but when the hour reached its end, we even got some extra time to finish the last bits. So happy, the owner Jenneke is so supportive. She really made my day.
This one is to be repeated! Thanks Fines and all people involved.. HQ pics soon.

I really don't know if I put out some more besides schoolwork until next year.. Maybe I'll paint an christmas piece or so but I am not sure yet, so the best to all of you for 2015! Love!

HOUSEHOLD TYPOGRAPHY #1 - SHOE LACING!

While on a party with some friends, enjoying the dnb from Mefjus, Kasra and some other guys Jim told the group about my graffiti work. After showing the pictures and receiving some nice compliments (such random things can really make my day!) I heard something I was thinking about for a long time already.. 'Your pieces are a bit seamless bro..' I realised I just needed that one push, because instantly after that I got so much inspiration for other works.. That is why this new 'Household Typography' series is born, I want to get familiar with the realistic shadowing and search for the typography in some of the most random objects. New objects bring new possibilities! 

To start of the series I didn't want to dig deep too quickly.. That's why we are shoe lacin' today, this is a a really bendable texture. I tried to preserve the realness, which I already brought to another level here.. So promising. This one's a step by step again, with the GIF file below, like the Kermis Exchange. Enjoy!

GRAFFITI BLACKBOOK SKETCH - THE DEPTH WITHIN

New update on the book! I've been busy for school last week, and I decided to publish a sketching book with all of my drawing templates in the future. Things that have been done are: the NS train, a RET subway, a RET bus and a shed. More stuff to come!

The graffiti front took a couple of updates too! I joined the Unknown Crew, a crew together with the friends of the last couple of posts... Positive vibes all the way!

I've called the new sketch of today 'The Depth Within' because I tried to get more familiar with the effect in the yellow parts. Sketching the outlines first helped a lot! Good things for the future. The shadow in combination with the 3d effect inside the fill also made it look a little different from the other sketches. Thanks to mom btw, for my new sketchbook!

HOF DAY @ DELFT - FT. FINES, TOBER, TREM & BUNO!

Fun day with the boys! The first collaboration with Fines.. I really wanted to paint with that guy from the day that I've met him. Awesome style, awesome characters. We decided to hit the Prinses Irenetunnel in Delft, as it is a big legal wall where only two out of the five of us had been before. New place new challenges; the 2 painting tunnels were far from perfect. We chose the dirty one, because the bicycle tunnel was busy for the weekend.. Nonetheless it was a cold but nice trip. We spotted a lot of dope pieces, bigup Demo & Beyond! Real pity Tober couldn't finish his latex roller piece, but he promised to visit again soon. Buno is making progress, today's piece was cleannn! Keep it up bro!

Fines' made a lot of video footage, a video is coming soon I guess? We'll see!

UNEXPECTED GIFT - 2014.. YO: FINES, REKOR, AXER, TEEK!

Once upon a time, I was searching the web, as usual, for new blogs to follow. I stumbled upon a really awesome piece on a train, as usual. Everything went like it always did. The big difference was that this train was a template in a blackbook, in black and white, with all room for sketching. Really dope idea, but it bothered me that the shape was really common, or it were the typical NYC subway trains.

Since that day I always kept an eye out for the typical Dutch NS 'hondenkop' trains, but I couldn't discover the printable version.. So I made one myself! This is an illustrator project I've been working on for the past couple of days. I am trying to make a RET subway train and an ARRIVA bus template soon, so keep an eye out for the full package!

SUNDAY IS BLACKBOOK DAY #8: QUICKIE ON HALLOWEEN

Ha, a Dutch title on this one. Been talking with the guys Rekor, Axer & Teek, about collaborations, and where they should take place. We just can't get a compromise. That's why the title is 'Niet Zeiken, Maar Painten', which roughly means 'Stop Whining, Just Paint', haha. Took the picture today, but the sketch is from last night. A little halloween tweak on the brown fill splats, enjoy!

QUICK SKETCH! - YO: TOBER, AXER, REKOR

NEW POKER STICKERS - TIME TO TRADE!

I restyled some details of the Seck Design website at school. At the Web30 lessons I learned to add buttons to the header, add a custom 'loading' icon and some more things & details. See if you guys can find all the differences with the original template!

Part of the plan were my new sticker slaps. I've had others before, but there are only 150 left by now.. Those kings were nice, but when slapping at busy streets I got to be fast. At such moments I encountered the problem with pasting at the wrong angles, or even pasting upside down (!). That's why I've made this round sticker this time, and made everything symmetric.

They have a matching theme. Like the other sticker had a playing card design, I searched for another 'casino' attribute. This time it is a poker chip! I have three colours, all ordered at Onlineprinters. Hit me up if you want some! You can email me at the new 'about' page in the header.

New painting session today! As I turned 20 two weeks ago, I got a funny invite for a bday jam with the big Tober. After sketching a quickie and posting it yesterday, we got out today to get it done. The legal tunnel @ Overschie is so mad.. Pieces from Horn, Joax, Rustie.. Fresh. Blue with a red outline made my piece pop, but my main concern was to keep the effects in touch with eachother. Shout to Tober for the tex!

GRAFFITI BLACKBOOK SKETCH - 20.000 PAGE VIEWS!

So we've hit 20.000 pageviews! What a birthday present.. I hope I don't disappoint you guys, it's lettering and no illustration this time.

My color combinations are a bit seamless right now, I want to totally focus on the effects in this.. So I tried some new things today, I couldn't do less haha. The yellow 'folded' lines, and the orange waterdrop effects are new, and that's something to be painted in the near future. With a little shoutout to AXER, REKOR & TEEK. Enjoy!

YELLOW FOLDS & WATERDROPS - 2014

BROUWERIJ 'ANSELMUS' - THE FIFTH LABEL 'BLOND BIER'!

As my visitors may already know, my uncle is a brewer. He makes all sorts of beer, with special flavors. This time he made a blonde ale, with a strong flavor of hop. It is called 'Blond Bier', and as it is becoming usual by now, he gave me the opportunity to make a label for it, awesome! As it is the fifth label I make for his brewery, it is starting to be a real series. Something to be proud of.

On the label for the blonde ale there's a grain plant, and a grain field in the back. It's an overall yellow label, that is why the bordeaux red logo really sticks out. 

But the thing that makes this post worth reading is the new solution we designed for the printing costs; Our opinion, that color printing every label (at home) is too expensive, is something that many of us share. The average cost of a home printed a4 sheet is 20 eurocents. That's why I've made a template specially for copying; Higher contrast and photo paper, to prevent too much quality loss. Like an 'original card' for copying. For a picture, take a look below!

When I started on this piece it was somewhere past midnight, 2 am or something. I couldn't catch sleep and had some inspiration, so I got sketching. That's why this one's called 'Dream Blue'.

Still into the shadows and depth, I try to get everything in a harmony in the last sketches.. Just a quick update to show my progress. Slightly edited in Photoshop.

I've met Axer about 2 years ago on twitter. I didn't talk to him much but he's a nice guy.. Today we met at s' Hertogenbosch for the Kings Of Colors festival at a local abandoned factory. Spotted Nash Loveletters and his son, painting a piece. Dope!

After checking up all pieces, we left with the whole group to go to a legal wall for some chilling and painting. First walked a mile or 2 for the paint, my feet are so done.. We ended up between a Rasko & Sofles collabo and other sick crew work.. Even saw my awesome dtp-teacher from university painting, Annette-Illustreert.nl! Painted together with Rekor and Auris there. Teek, Axer and Onak did some throwies. Awesome day, flicks shot by the @Rekorded!

AURIS AT THE TOP! - PICTURES BY REKOR

CANVAS PAINTING - 'ERASMUSAIC'!

School started 3 weeks ago, and with the redesigned schoolbuilding it's still a mess everywhere. Boxes with packed up stuff, whole unfinished rooms.. Teachers that cannot find their desired class, a lot of lost people.. But yeah, when I started in 1st grade I was exactly in the same condition, so I got no excuse to blame them. I just gotta live with that.

Last week Paul from Ropana joked about the staff at Park Medisch Centrum, they 'complained' about my paintings there. As curious as I am, I asked why they complained. Then Paul said; 'They wanted the new paintings to arrive, you got to make new ones!', and we laughed. Work had to be done! For the next canvas I really wanted to do something with the city Rotterdam, because that is where I live, work, and get educated. 'De Erasmusbrug', the mighty bridge over the river was a thing I always wanted to paint.. But I didn't want to get it done like it was done 1000 times before. That's why this canvas is done with stencils and spraypaint, so that's different. No markers, fun experience. That is why all its details are minimum; I've used only stencils and pieces of paper.

This piece will be displayed among the 'See Perspectives' works at Park Medisch Centrum soon! I will keep you guys updated!

DC TRASE SHOE DESIGN CONTEST - MY ENTRY 'CUBISM'

So I was tipped by my niece in Australia about this fancy new contest for DC's skate shoes.
An illustrator template is available for download on the website, and you can win 10.000 dollars by getting creative.

I got hooked and in a rough 3 hours I was done. With a little help from my brother, I designed this shoe; It is inspired by the old school MsDos game Commander Keen, because I grew up with Mario and other 8 bit games. I never forgot the awesome colors Apogee used in their games, with all contrasts and so on.. I proudly present you, Cubism.

So I was exploring my feed section of my instagram last time.. And a new @RanerBoom sketch came up. As a writer from the UK, she became popular with her exchanges with writers all over the world and gaining followers & experience, fastly. She did a couple of sick fills already, check it out!

SECK1 x BUNO - TRIBUTE TO WILLEM @ CAPELSEBRUG!

The sun was shining today, the perfect day for a meetup with all the writers.
With TOBER, ATER and BUNO in the house, it was time to paint! I never painted @ Capelsebrug before.. Nice & quiet wall! Ater wanted to practice his throw ups, but in the lil' waiting time I dropped a quickie on the same spot.. So in the end it was a collabo too. Dope!

I painted the wall with Buno, fun meeting him. He didn't paint many pieces before, but the fill really popped it with those gradients. I also like his lettering, with all the straight lines.. You will get there bro, just keep on practicing!

I would do a tribute for my passed grandpa Willem, and as he was into Tiffany Glass work, I made a glass themed E this time. The other letters were in a glossy 'chrome' setting. After the dark purple outline we we're finished. Thanks Tober, for the tex! Hope you get well soonnn!

SUNDAY IS BLACKBOOK DAY #7: RED 'N GREEN!

Quick update on the book! I want to get more into 3d bars lately, and try a lot of color combo's also. As you followers we're already familiar with; The slow progress I try to make because I want to get done everything; At least once. So this time the 3d bars are green/fluor, just simple gradients. I am planning to use 2 or more tints that are boosting each other, soon.

I started on the work past friday, after I finished the green tints I had to get some sleep.. But when I woke up I heard my grandfather had a haemorhage around 1 am. When he entered the hospital the bleeding was too severe to save him.

The poor old man died yesterday. Rest in peace Willem. We will miss you. <3

CHROME QUICKIE ft. SOAK - ZAANDAM 2014

I've planned this collaboration looong time ago, while I met SOAK at the Almere Graffiti Jam 2011. The guy is always supporting me, and he always had my back. Fun days bro!

I brought some chrome cans with me, and some other colours for fine lines and effects. After a night smoking & sketching we got to the skate yard the next day. Zaanhof it is! Really dope work there, even a DUEL piece! We decided to hit a pillar that supported the highway, because there wasn't much to go over without disrespecting others. So many good collabo's!

Maybe I'll come back later to paint the skatebowl. Looks fun!

BLACKBOOK SKETCH - MINING 4 GOLD!

So I've already told you guys that I'm really happy with the pageviews last months. It felt like I have found the gold, felt like a victory. I never managed to get so many support before.

As we are recovering from the trip in La France, I become a bit bored sometimes. The views and votes from the 'SKOR' battle aren't spectacular either, but the sketch inspired me again.. I try to get more 3d in my fills bit by bit, and try not to be too fanatic or run to hard; I want to explore everything that I need precisely. With the optimistic mood from the 16.000 pageviews (!), and the fresh ideas I have, it was a nice saturday evening full of experimenting.

Yes, this sketch was made on saturday.. I hesitated for a moment thinking I'll make a blackbook 2014 video for youtube, but this is viewed by many more people. So I will stick to this for now. Enjoy!

Quick update on the book - the original Seckie tag is a bit boring some days, so a graffiti sketch exchange or battle is really nice to refresh the styles. Yesterday I came across a new battle on the ilovesketches facebook page, high end artwork over there, from all over the world.. The word is 'SKOR'. I decided to take part in the battle, all sketches are uploaded at the deadline date, the 9th of august. My new 3D effect is developed more and more. Don't forget to vote on yo favorite!

STICKER SLAPPING & PAINTING - SOUTH FRANCE - 2014

We went on a trip again! Like last year, our destination was Monte Carlo, Monaco. Besides some quick sticker slapping in Breda and a parking spot in Belgium, nothing special happened. I did make a quick sketch at home, and I bought some paint before we left the homebase Rotterdam.

After two days travelling, we entered the mighty city where everybody appears to be rich. Monte Carlo is a place I'm still amazed about. Golddigger Girls, Supercars and overpriced Casino's everywhere. Beside ST taking photos I tried to mark all the places I got to with my stickers. Fun days there, noticed that Kleps was getting up mad. Dope!

After we were done there we took off to our next destination; the legal wall located at Impasse de Fuon,
La Trinité, France. The work there was really impressive, with pieces from Seher, Old Dirty Crew & Access. The spot itself wasn't the chillest spot I have painted on, to be honest. The ground wasn't flat at all, so my legs & ankles we're really exhausted at the end of the day, because of the 45 degrees extra bending. My paint rolled down all the time too, so I walked some extra miles, haha. One of my cans even broke on the rocks. A pity.

Other than the clumsiness on the spot, there was a good amount of French sun to be happy about. ST Photography made some hdr pictures of the work while in progress, and he also shot the end result. The blue is a 3d concept I've been working on in the past few weeks, and the Strawberry 3d really popped. Nice.

The next day we drove back north to Knokke-Heist in Belgium, for some sticker slapping and trading again. We visited the 'Gouden Hoed' cartoon festival, I might want to take place in the competition next year.. Who knows. It was a lovely trip overall!

LOGO & BUSINESS CARDS - ST AUTOMOTIVE PHOTOGRAPHY

So as I mentioned earlier last week, I had the honor to design a logo & business card for St Automotive Photography. A fairly new name to the scene, but with over 2300 followers on his @STcarphotos Instagram account and a big 500 views in the first month on his blog, he gains much popularity in quite a short amount of time. Keep it up!

For the cards we search for a 'fast and clean' look, with a acceptable amount of blue for a friendly, but professional company tint. The most people that own such expensive cars are mostly succesfull, aren't they? The vertical stick on the T is twisted in a playful way to make the logo totally ours.

The business card is filled up with an gradient on the bottom, and the contact details, logo, and social media links above. They are printed on plastic and are matte transparent. First time printing something on plastic, nice!
