GRAFFITI STAGE & WORKSHOP - 'STICHTING PUSH' BRIELLE!

Tober's hand is still in a condition that he can't paint with it properly.. Sometimes, if he really wants to paint he is still into business, but he had to cancel the most recent orders due to his hand problem. I hope he'll get better soon, this is a real pity.. When he asked if I would paint the stage pieces for Stichting Push, I couldn't resist. And it turned out well! After a little chat with Paul, it was time to get started sketching the thing. The people from Push we're really supportive, and every little change was all my decision; Easy! We made 3 curtains to put on the stage; Every piece with an special theme; the first one was bullies, the middle one was about the diva's and the last one is all about nerds.

After the sketches were completed, I got my cans and we got to the first location.. In Zuidland Tober had a couple of canvases left, with pieces from Kermis and Rias on (the returning visitor would recognize those names by now!). After a night of painting the bases, we were done filling. All colors were on, and after a nice beer we got home. Perfect!

The day after we met at half past nine in the morning @ Brielle. The weather was good and my girl was with me, so that part made my day already.. We latexed the last part (Thanks to my homie Tober!) and we waited for the paint to dry a little. About an hour later the group of musical school kids arrived. Overall it was a fun day, learning those kids to paint; they were only 10 years old but got some mad ideas! Full of potential. Compare my sketches with the end results below, their effects and backgrounds added so much more! The fabric we did paint on wasn't the best, and with a lil wind it would already move, so the lines aren't the cleanest. But it was fun!

TRYING OUT COPICS #2 - 'WATCHING YOU'

Breaking through the paper

The only thing mother nature had to share today was a big cloud and rain.. Somehow when I am chilling inside with the water tickling on a roof above my head, it makes me sketch. Stormy days stimulate my creative mind in some way, I just can't describe it. My girl is away on vacation with her family, and missing her makes me only more desperate to clear my mind. Let's go!

As lightning strikes, I remember the past post I did about Copics and Promarkers; I want to learn to do those clean gradients, but blending isn't my thing. I made this blog to show the progress of my work, and I always redo things 10 times or more before I think it's good enough. In this part I focused on the eyes, I really tried to get as many realistic effects and parts done, but I like to keep it a bit comic / pop art style, my way.. When comparing my first sketches with this one, my sketches with eyes are becoming better and better.

The sketch is called 'Watching You', and I made a fictional girl that l looks through my ripped markerblock to see whats going on. Colours are all promarkers / stabilo, and I tried shadowing as smooth as possible with a grey copic. Yeah smooth.. Nah. Mistakes are been made only to learn from. We'll see what the next one will look like, enjoy!

'WATCHING YOU' x 2014

ILLUSTRATION - 'IS THE SKY REALLY THE END?'

A couple of days ago I reached 10 000 page views, a milestone. I want to thank everybody that read my blog, saw my work, gave me feedback, even the people that complained; Thank you all, the mistakes are only to learn from. This blog is something I'm proud of, the compliments and extra pageviews made my day; Especially the ones from DutchDamage. Special thanks to user 'Boy Zonderman' for posting my link in the blog section! Keep it up!

I've made a illustration about these days; My girl is starting to paint also, she even got a blackbook and markers.. We already painted her first piece, and the sun is shining. It is getting warmer and warmer. Everybody's happy. Those things make me think about my future in a bright way; Can't I get up higher? Can't the blog get bigger than it already is now? Offcourse! Let's do that! I'll keep sketching anyway but this is like piece that tops it all.

This time we've got a flying backpacker. He has a painting-mask on, and he's leaving red drips everywhere. The guy that is confident about every step he makes, but also does whatever he wants to do. 'Is the sky really the end?' This one is made with ink and paintmarkers, and finished off with fineliners, grey shadowing and some highlights. Enjoy this proud graffiti writer illustration!
